Chronic Pain Management Group Program

The CPMG is a 12-week, structured group program based on state of art psychological and behavioral treatments for chronic pain. The program includes education, stress management, relaxation training, cognitive-behavioral treatment, and benefits of group support.

The program philosophy is that pain exists when the patient says it does, including when psychological factors are judged to have an important role in perpetuating chronic pain. A stance of non-judgment and acceptance allows us to focus on alleviating suffering, which invariably accompanies chronic pain syndromes.

Participation is intended to help patients experience a sense of control over their lives, reduce pain intensity, increase coping with pain, enhance physical functioning, improve emotional functioning and relationships, and understand the proper use of pain medications. In all cases, the CPMG program seeks to work collaboratively with primary physicians and other pain specialists.
